Our Story

EKS began as a love of textiles and refined textures. EKS is shortened from the greek word Ekstasis (from the Ancient Greek ἔκστασις  "to be or stand outside oneself, a removal to elsewhere" from ek- "out," and stasis "a stand, or a standoff of forces”

EKS creates conceptual garments and accessories inspired by brutalist glamour, industrial decay, and the natural world.

Designer Melissa Clark has a background in theater and costuming and made her home in New Orleans 18 years ago.  She wants her designs to reflect quality, timelessness, and the sensation of “totalities in perpetual disintegration.”
